Under Floor Heating

ecoheat heating systems

Underfloor space heating is one of the most efficient forms of heating available.

By heating the floor it is warm to walk on and the heat rises to evenly warm the whole room. Usually when people are cold their extremities feel the cold first as in their feet and hands. Traditional heating is not usually evenly heating a room and the heat rises from the heat source so that the room is heated from the roof down. This means that the first thing getting warm is the head, which makes a room feel hot and stuffy even though the hands and feet are still cold. With underfloor heating the feet and hands are heated first as the heat is rising evenly from the entire floor so the head is the last part to feel the heat, consequently the room is less likely to feel stuffy and the body will be feeling warm and comfortable.

For new construction concrete slab heating, insulation material is placed underneath the concrete before it is laid. This prevents heat loss to the surrounding ground. With modern insulation methods heat loss from the rooms is greatly reduced. Ecoheat Ltd promotes hydronic or water underfloor heating, as we believe this to be the most efficient and cost effective. In our experience we have found installations using electric underfloor heating to be expensive to operate resulting in reduced usage, which tends to defeat the purpose of fitting it. Because the system is controlled with thermostats and has the provision for timers as well the system is fully automatic. The benefit of this is the dwelling can be warm when people arrive home versus having to turn on heaters or light fires once they get home and wait for the house to warm up.

At Ecoheat Ltd we generally provide underfloor heating as part of a combined water heating system. For more info please look at the combined heating system page.
